MYD (Mettalic Yield Damper)

Laibin Seismic Isolation Products

The elastoplastic damper is a damping device that utilizes low yield strength steel as an energy-absorbing material. It can be classified based on the yield mechanism of the steel.

The main types of damping walls used are:

  • Axial Yield Type: In this configuration, the low yield strength steel structural element is placed along its length, undergoing axial deformation and yielding. This type functions similarly to a brace.
  • Shear Yield Type: In this configuration, the low yield strength steel is placed horizontally in the form of a plate, generating shear deformation within the plane. This type takes the form of a web plate (diaphragm).

This system is used to enhance the seismic resilience of structures and dissipate earthquake energy.
