BRB (Buckling-Restrained Brace)

Laibin Seismic Isolation Products

A support-type seismic energy dissipator (also known as a buckling-restrained brace, BRB, or unbonded brace, UBB) is a type of structural element composed of a bucklingrestrained core material, an outer casing that surrounds the core, a filler material, and a non-adhesive interface between the core and the filler material.

The core material of a BRB is made of steel with high ductility. Structurally, the steel core typically consists of three main components: the working section, the transition section, and the connection section. The primary function of the outer casing is to prevent the core steel from buckling, thereby enhancing its energy dissipation performance.

This technology is used to improve the seismic resilience of buildings and infrastructure. It helps reduce structural displacement and vibration amplitude, thereby increasing the overall stability and safety of the structure during an earthquake.
